President Barack Obama has offered his condolences to the late Donna Summer‘s family in a hand written statement, following her death.
The President is the latest in a string of high-profile people to pay a warm tribute to the disco diva, who died yesterday after a long battle with lung cancer. More details below………..
Obama also spoke on behalf of his wife, Michelle, in the touching letter: “Michelle and I were saddened to hear about the passing of Donna Summer.”
“A five-time Grammy Award winner, Donna truly was the Queen of Disco. Her voice was unforgettable, and the music industry has lost a legend far too soon. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Donna’s family and her dedicated fans.”
It has emerged that Summer believed she developed cancer after being exposed to harsh chemicals from the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks.
Summer will be laid to rest in Nashville, Tennessee next week Monday.
