Several employees at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center are reportedly without a job for trying to snap photos of Lamar Odom and sneak a peek at his medical records, which is a violation of federal HIPAA rules.
Though Khloé Kardashian told fans that the hospital has some “amazing doctors and nurses” who kept a close eye on her husband after he was found unconscious at a Las Vegas brothel earlier this month and was rushed to the ER shortly after.
Kardashian went on to say the staff worked very hard to stabilize Odom so that he could be flown to Los Angeles to receive specialized treatment.
Now, TMZ Sports reports that several Sunrise staff members were fired from the facility after trying to take photos of Odom and make copies of his medical records to produce to media outlets during his time at the hospital.
“We take all patient privacy very seriously,” a Sunrise representative told TMZ Sports, “and follow all HIPAA policies in compliance with federal regulations.”
Odom is now staying at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A. where he reportedly has round-the-clock security guarding his room, and only the Kardashian-Odom family can see him.
